| | The Admiral's Collection launches in Hobart The Admiral's Collection of luxury accommodation in Hobart will be launched on June 24 this year. The collection features four types of apartments, including the Admiral's Suite, Admiral's loft, Admiral's Penthouse I and Admiral's Penthouse II. The latter has four bedrooms, an indoor/outdoor balcony, and is over two storeys. All four apartments contain luxurious furnishings, original artworks and a wine rack stashed with premium Tasmanian wines. | | 
| | Banoka Bush Camp to open in September Due to rising water levels in Botswana, the opening of Banoka Bush Camp has been rescheduled to around September 20. Located in the world-renowned Okavango Delta, the Banoka Bush Camp consists of ten tented units on raised wooden decks shaded by ebony and mangosteen trees. Guests will be able to watch elephants, zebras, giraffes, hippos and other unique species in the wilderness. Banoka's main area has elegant interior furnishings and a swimming pool. | | 
| | Sofitel unveils haute couture hotel in Paris The Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg opened its doors to the public on May 26. Designed by Didier Gomez, the hotel offers 21 suites and the interiors follow a fashion theme with signed photographs of fashion stars on display. The penthouse apartment has a Parisian-haute-couture theme, with hand-painted gilded panels. In the bathroom, polished marble walls are decorated with black and white mosaics alongside a Hammam shower and balneotherapy bathtub. | | Evergreen Lodge opens John Muir House Yosemite resort Evergreen Lodge in California has announced its latest addition: luxury vacation home John Muir House. The contemporary cedar house was built in 2009 and measures 2,500 square feet. It has a 1,000 square foot private deck with outdoor hot tub; three bedrooms and a large loft; three bathrooms and a gourmet kitchen. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out at the surrounding Sierra forest. | | Rezidor opens Radission Royal Hotel in Moscow Following its three-year renovation of one of Stalin's "Seven Sisters" skyscrapers, Rezidor has launched the Radisson Royal Hotel in Moscow. The historical hotel is on the Moskva River, within walking distance of the Kremlin and other significant sites. The Radisson Royal is 206 metres tall and offers 506 guest rooms and suites as well as 38 serviced apartments. There are two restaurants and a karaoke bar with views across the city. | | Panatone Hotel opens in Brussels Panatone LLC has announced the opening of its colour psychology concept hotel in Brussels. A collaboration between interior designer Michel Penneman and architect Olivier Hannaert, the Panatone Hotel offers 59 rooms over seven stories. Each floor is decorated in accordance with a distinct Panatone colour palette. Rooms feature installations by Belgian photographer Victor Levy. The hotel has conference facilities and a rooftop terrace bar. | 
 | Falls Creek Sled Dog Race Four years in the making, the Falls Creek Sled Dog Race will be held at the Falls Creek Alpine Resort in July. A 3.5km-4km course has been designated within the resort for the inaugural event. Staged under lights, the event will also showcase skijoring where a musher on skis is towed by one to three dogs using voice command to navigate. Organiser Shaun Butcher says the event will be the first sledding exhibition of its kind in an Australian alpine village. | | Marriott signs seven new hotels in China Marriott International has signed agreements for seven new hotels in China as part of its five-year plan to double its presence in the country. The project is the company's first foray into a number of China's regional cities, with properties in Dalian, Sanya, Zhuhai, Fuzhou and Kunshan as well as Hangzhou and Shanghai. The new hotels cater to the business market, offering conference, dining and recreational facilities. |
  | New Lufthansa first class Europe's largest airline Lufthansa has unveiled the First Class section on its first Airbus A380. The cabin has an open design with a flexible privacy screen and a sound-absorbing partition. The cabin features a bed, an air humidification system – the first of its kind in a commercial aircraft – and adjustable lighting. Each passenger is given a lockable closet and access to a luxurious bathroom separated from the lavatory area. |   | Avalon Waterways to launch "Suite Ship" River cruise company Avalon Waterways will offer two decks of suite-only accommodation aboard the newly christened Panorama. Each of the 64 Panorama Suites measures over 18 square metres and has a large sitting room with panoramic views through a floor-to-ceiling, 11-foot wide window. The window opens to transform the Suite into an open-air balcony. The new vessel also has 17 deluxe staterooms and two royal suites. |

NSW Biennale of Sydney May 12 - Aug 1: The 17th Biennale of Sydney will showcase emerging talent in Australian contemporary art. A range of innovative works will be on display at venues and sites around Sydney Harbour, including Cockatoo Island, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney Opera House, the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Vivid Sydney May 27 - Jun 21: Billed as Sydney's winter festival of music, light and ideas, Vivid Sydney will return this season under the curatorship of rock icon Lou Reed. The biggest festival of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, Vivid will illuminate Sydney with large-scale light installations transforming the Opera House sails and the State Parliament House on Macquarie Street. Australian Chamber Orchestra - Romantic Symphony May 29- June 2: The Australian Chamber Orchestra will play symphonies of the Romantic era featuring Brahms' Symphony No. 1 and Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony No.8 under the lead of Artistic Director Richard Tognetti at Sydney's Opera House and Angel Place. In addition, orchestral music written by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood will be played as an Australian premiere as well. Sydney Film Festival June 2-14: The 57th Annual Sydney Film Festival will showcase award-winning contemporary cinema from Australia and around the world. The opening night Gala on Wednesday June 2 will feature the world premiere of Shirley Barrett's South Solitary at the State Theatre. 2010 Professional Bull Riders World Challenge Final June 5: Australian and international cowboys will come together for the 2010 Professional Bull Riders (PBR) World Challenge Final. This bull-riding showdown is the culmination of the three-event PBR World Challenge Series, which wraps up at Acer Arena in Sydney's Olympic Park. Sydney hosts The FIFA Fan Fest June 11 - July 11: Sydney will be one of only six cities outside Africa to host the FIFA Fan Fest, along with Berlin, Mexico City, Paris, Rome and Rio. The Fan Fest celebrates the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa and will broadcast all matches live on giant screens in Darling Harbour. The free event will include interactive family activities, kids football workshops and football competitions throughout the day. Jazz and Blues Festival June 21-23: The 20th Jazz and Blues Festival in Darling Harbour will showcase 34 bands on five different stages. The free event is Sydney's biggest music festival, where visitors can watch local and international jazz, soul and blues musicians including The Strides, Harry Manx and James Morrison or show off their own talent on the Open-Mic Stage. Clicquot in the Snow 2010 July 22-25: The first Australian Clicquot in the Snow event will be held in Thredbo this snow season. It celebrates two of life's great pleasures, champagne and apres ski. The Thredbo Alpine Hotel and The Denman Hotel and Spa are on board to host the events, which include apres ski parties, exclusive dinners, tastings and picnics in the snow. | | VIC Rupert Bunny at the National Gallery of Victoria Until July 4: A retrospective exhibition of Melbourne artist Rupert Bunny will display over 100 pieces his works. The Light in Winter June 4-July 4: Directed by Robyn Archer, The Light in Winter is a light-based festival that brings together artists, designers and communities to showcase 13 light installations at Federation Square in Melbourne. Latrobe City Sauna Sail June 12-14: This annual sailing regatta on the Queen's Birthday Long Weekend includes five races over three days at Latrobe Valley Yacht Club, Hazelwood Pondage. The family-friendly regatta will be open to all classes of yachts joined by sailors from all over Victoria and interstate. European Masters at the Stadel Museum June 19 - October 10: In its seventh exhibition in the hugely popular Melbourne Winter Masterpieces series, the National Gallery of Victoria will bring together over 100 works by 70 of the most renowned artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. Works by Monet, Renoir, Degas and Cezanne are on loan from the prestigious Stadel Museum in Germany. Tim Burton Retrospective June 24 - October 10: Direct from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Tim Burton retrospective will be on display at the Australian Centre for Moving Image as part of the Centre's Winter Masterpieces Series. The exhibition will showcase a range of works from Burton's long cinematographic career, from his earliest childhood drawings through to storyboards, costumes, paintings and cinematic ephemera from his latest films. Mary Poppins at Her Majesty's Theatre From July 29: The Australian debut of this Broadway and West End stage spectacular will open at Her Majesty's Theatre with all-star cast including Marina Prior, Debra Byrne and Matt Lee. Verity Hunt-Ballard will play the lead in the musical, which was adapted from the books by Australia's own P.L. Travers and the classic 1964 Walt Disney film. SA Adelaide Symphony Orchestra Master Series March - November: This year's Master Series features such classical music virtuosos as Richard Tognetti, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Oleg Caetani, Kristijan Jarvi, Feng Ning and James Ehnes with 14 performances held in the Adelaide Town Hall and Festival Theatre. Natsuko Yoshimoto, in her second year as ASO Concertmaster, will perform a Violin Concerto on the weekend of June 11 - 12. Wildlife Photographer of the Year May 5 - June 20: The South Australian Museum exhibits selected entries in the world's largest photographic competition, owned by the Natural History Museum, London and BBC Wildlife magazine. The exhibition tours internationally with sixteen categories of photographs of nature and wildlife. Both professional and amateur photographers enter the competition each year, with over 43,000 images submitted. South Australian Country Music Festival and Awards 2010 June 4-14: The state's biggest country music awards will be held throughout the Riverland area. This year's event will feature a Country Music Hall of Fame and a Hands of Fame Park. New talent will be presented at the South Australian Awards Concert on June 12 at the Bonney Theatre, Barmera. Body, Mind and Psychic Expo June 5-6: The Body, Mind and Psychic Expo to be held at Adelaide Showground will provide a weekend of "alternative experiences" such as healing, massage, reflexology and astrology, tarot and clairvoyance for $12 per person. Visitors can take part in various workshops and hundreds of stalls will sell natural health products, clothing, books, crystals, essentials and oils. Adelaide Cabaret Festival June 11 - 26: Highlighting the best local, national and international artists in the cabaret genre, the 10th annual Adelaide Cabaret Festival celebrates a mode of storytelling that combines music, satire, comedy and dancing. The Adelaide Festival Centre transforms into various sized cabaret venues with bars, cafes, restaurants and clubs set up with cabaret-style tables and chairs. Festival highlights include nine-time Grammy award winner Natalie Cole, appearing in her only Australian performances on June 12 and 13. BankSA Sea and Vines Festival June 13-14: The 18th annual Sea and Vines Festival, held in McLaren Vale, celebrates the region's seafood and wine with more than 20 wineries participating in wine-matching events. Specially created seafood meals will be served, with most wineries non-seafood, children's and vegetarian alternatives. McLaren Vale is where the vines meet the sea, located in the Fleurieu Peninsula and a short drive from Adelaide. | | WA Albany Motor Classic June 5-7: The annual Albany Classic has celebrated motor sports throughout history since its inception in 1936. This year's event features car displays including street machines, vintage cars, speedway, go-karts and soapbox racecars. On Sunday 6 June at Alison Hartman Gardens, there will be on-stage entertainment by performers including girl band The Pixie Chicks. There will also be a bouncing castle, face painting, market stalls and special interest exhibits. Poesis - Heathcote Museum & Gallery June 4 - July 11: Four local artists have come together to exhibit works ranging from traditional media such as painting and sculpture to a range of non-traditional approaches including installation, gestural painting and jewellry making, Each practice is based on the initial idea of poesis (the latin term for "the making of poetry") with a focus upon the construction of and layering of meaning. QLD Magic Millions National Sale May 24-Jun 10: The Gold Coast will host the Magic Millions national sale and sport horse series. Auctions of thoroughbred weenlings, broodmares, yearlings and racehorses will be held over eleven sessions. The calendar of events includes several race days as well as polo, show jumping, music and entertainment. Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones Until June 27: An exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery exploring the art of millinery with a combination of iconic hats made by Stephen Jones and a selection from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The collection includes historical items like a 12th century Egyptian fez, creations from the world's great fashion houses - including Christian Dior and Vivienne Westwood - and hats worn by famous faces such as Marlene Dietrich and Kylie Minogue. Semi-Permanent June 4 - June 11: Semi-Permanent is Brisbane's annual design festival hosted by Design is Kinky. In its third year, the week-long event will bring together Australian and international artists and designers including Berlin graffiti artist Mymo and British illustrator Jasper Goodall. Australian fine art photographer Alexia Sinclair and photojournalist Stephen Dupont will be speaking at the event. There will also be appearances by Frankie magazine, Toben Graphic Design and Iloura Design & 3D Animation. Variety of Chef's Ball 2010 June 5: Seven of Australia's most prestigious chefs will gather in Brisbane to help raise funds for the Variety Children's Charity. The event which features catering, live cooking demonstrations, as well as live music and entertainment will help raise funds for much-needed equipment for the thousands of disabled and disadvantaged children Variety Queensland support. Rock the Ballet June 22 - 24: Following sold out shows in Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna and Frankfurt comes what can only be described as a new type of ballet for the 21st century. This international show combines classic Ballet technique with more modern performance arts such as musical theatre, hip hop and gymnastics to create a "pop-ballet" experience that has to be seen to be believed. TAS Savour Tasmania 2010 June 5-6: The final leg of Tasmania's second annual epicurean festival is in Launceston and Burnie this June. Simon Bryant of television series The Cook and the Chef will lead a tour of the Burnie Farmer's Market before heading to the Bayview restaurant to present his degustation dinner. At Strathlynn restaurant in Rosevears, head chef Daniel Alps will be joined by Martin Bosley in creating a luncheon matched with local wines. Festival of Voices July 7-11: More than 10,000 people are expected to visit Hobart for the annual Festival of Voices, where choirs from all over Australia will perform concerts and participate in workshops run by the world's finest teachers in a cappella, gospel and opera choir. Highlights of the five-day festival include the Festival Bonfire and Big Sing, the Festival Club in Salamanca Place and the Festival Finale Concert in Hobart's Federation Concert Hall. Chocolate Winterfest July 11: Chocolate Winterfest is Latrobe's annual festival celebrating all things chocolate. This year's event promises to "indulge, inform, astound, amuse but above all celebrate chocolate as you escape from the bleakness of winter."

Lumina, A Winter of Festivals April 27 - August 31: A four-month program held throughout Tasmania that celebrates arts, food and wine, culture and sport. Commencing on April 27 with the Targa Tasmania road rally, more than 60 events are set to follow between May and August. | | ACT Husbands & Wives Portrait Gallery May 6-July 11: The private lives of Australian couples and families from the nineteenth century will be displayed at the National Portrait Gallery from May until July. The Husbands & Wives exhibition, which is curated by Joanna Gilmour, is made up of more than 40 early portrait photography but drawings, paintings, miniatures and silhouettes are also showing. Jazz Garters June 18 - July 10: Directed by Jim McMullen, the annual Jazz Garters is comprised of a team of acrobats, composers, dancers and instrumentalists. The winter variety production is a combination of Broadway, cabaret, comedy, and jazz dance numbers all rolled into one theatrical show. The cast includes Andy Burton, Christine Forbes, Jordan Kelly, Graham Robertson, David Spence and Michelle Tisdell. National Capital DanceSport Championships June 26-27: Hundreds of Australian and international dancers will come together in June for the annual National Capital DanceSport Championships. Professional and amateur dancers will compete in Latin American, Ballroom and New Vogue dance styles. Held in the AIS Arena in Canberra, the Championship will also feature a cabaret performance by one of the World's best Latin American couples. NT The Alice Prize May 1 - June 6: The Northern Territory's largest contemporary art prize is in its 40th year. An diverse range of works by contemporary artists from across the country is on display. Mediums include painting, drawing, photography and new media as well as ceramics, fabric and glass. Tattersall's Finke Desert Race June 11-14: This outback event is Australia's premier off-road racing event attracting bike, car and buggy entries from around Australia and overseas. The two-day race will lead drivers through a multi-terrain course from Alice Springs to the Aputula Community. The Adelaide River Show June 12-13: The 36th 'Back to the Bush' Adelaide River Show will be held at the Adelaide River Show Grounds. Events include a Campdraft, Bush Rodeo, Polocrosse and Gymkhana as well as the Adelaide River NT Country Music Talent Quest. The event will also include competitions in arts and crafts, flora art, cookery, photography, horticulture and agriculture as well as farm produce. Darwin Latin Dance Festival June 18-20: The 6th annual Latin Dance Festival is the largest latin dance festival in the Northern Territory and features workshops covering salsa casino rueda, zouk-lambada, cha-cha, bachata, merengue and ladies' and mens' styling. The Fiesta Caliente, which is the festival's main event, includes a variety of shows and parties. Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race July 24: The Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race is the first of its kind and the only international yacht race organized and run in Australia's north. The fleet will leave from Darwin Harbour, travelling 600 nautical miles to the race finish in Ambon Harbour, at the village of Amahusu in the Spice Islands.
