IMPORTANT SWINE FLU INFORMATION FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

AFTA is very pleased to be supporting the efforts by the Australian Federal Government to inform travellers of the risk and prevention measures in relation to the H1N1 2009 influenza or as it is more commonly known, swine flu.
The Australian Government would appreciate your help in informing people travelling overseas of the free vaccine that is now available to protect them from pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza – or swine flu.
The rate of infection with this influenza in the northern hemisphere is increasing and the flu season started early. Media coverage about the developments overseas should not deter people from travel, particularly as Australians can still travel safely by getting a free vaccine before they go. This vaccine will help protect people from becoming ill with this flu when away and also reduce the risk of them bringing the virus back to Australia. I have personally had my swine flu vaccination as I am travelling to China and I have suffered no side effects what so ever.
Please find on this page a link to download a PDF file of the Government's swine flu poster and also a link to download a flyer that you can have at your desk to assist your clients. The flyer may also be very helpful when sending out e tickets as an added service to clients. Also below are some simple questions and answers that will help you talk with customers about vaccination. More information, including detailed questions and answers about the vaccine, is available at www.healthemergency.gov.au. You can also order "Get Vaccinated" brochures and posters via the website. If you have any questions about the vaccination program call the pandemic hotline on 180 2007.
Many thanks and I hope that you find this information helpful when talking to your clients.
Regards,
Jayson Westbury
